Can your case manager see that you own any of these resources? With the exception of property, no, they cannot. So if you check no, the case manager will not know any difference.

How can your case manager see if you own any property? Each county has a tax assessor website that lists the owner of all properties in that county. However, unless your Food Stamp case manager has questions about your resources, it is highly unlikely they will research your county’s tax assessor website.

Have you or your spouse given away any assets for less than its value?

This is a question specifically for people applying for or receiving ABD Medicaid. This type of Medicaid is for those 65 or old, blind, or disabled. Those applying for Food Stamps are not required to complete this section.

Do you or your spouse own a vehicle?

If you have an adult over 65 or legally disabled person in your Food Stamp household, it will benefit you to answer this question as your household may qualify for a medical travel deduction.

Do you or your spouse have a life insurance policy?

This is a question for those applying for or receiving ABD (Aged, Blind, or Disabled) Medicaid. People applying for or receiving Food Stamps do not need to answer this question.
