Page 6: Can I get Food Stamps Faster?

Typically, a case manager is allowed 30 days to complete a Food Stamp application. However, if you qualify, you could recieve Food Stamp benefits in 7 days. If you would like your case manager to determine if you are qualified for expedited Food Stamps, answer the questions on page 6 of the application.

  1. Are you or any houshold member a migrant or seasonal farm worker?
    • Check yes if anyone in your househould is a seasonal or migrant farm worker.
  2. Total gross earned income that will be received for this month.
    • This is all income you worked for before taxes.
    • This includes:
      • under the table jobs where you are paid in cash. Examples include babysitting, sitting with the elderly, doing hair on your own, sex work including exotic dancing, OnlyFans, and FeetFinder
      • any 1099 jobs
      • tips
      • self employment
      • any hustle where you have made money
  3. Total gross unearned income that will be received for this month.
    • Unearned income examples:
      • child support
      • money gifted to you
      • Social Security Benefits
      • SSI
      • gambling winnings
      • lottery winnings
      • retirement income
      • alimony
  4. Total earned and unearned income for this month.
    • add up your total earned and unearned income
  5. How much do you and all household members have in cash or in the bank.
    • Add up your cash, banking account, savings accounts, etc.
  6. What is the monthly amount of your rent, mortgage, property taxes, and/or homeowner’s insurance?
    • If you pay rent, include that.
    • If you pay mortgage, include property taxes and homeowner’s insurance you pay.
  7. What is the total amount of your electric, water, gas, and/or other utilities this month?(Do not include past due and late fee amounts in the total)
    • Past due and late fee amounts do not count because the case manager is looking at what your actual monthly expenses are.
    • What is your household’s primary heating or cooling source? Mark all that apply.

        • *TIP* Any form of heating or cooling counts as an expense.
